We strive to uplift our community: through creating economic activity and employment, through the preservation of history, through providing a local watering hole for the exchange of ideas and mirth…and through charitable donations.

Donation Limitations

Please know that the California ABC has extremely strict guidelines when it comes to the donation policies and capabilities of breweries. By regulations: 

• We are only able to donate beer (no merchandise nor gift certificates)
  
• We can only donate to registered 501c3 and 501c6 organizations
• Proper licensing (one-day temporary non-profit ABC serving license or auction license) is required

Additionally, we do not provide cash donations. Further, please note that all awarded donations must be picked up by the beneficiary at our Coal Shed Brewery location on Mare Island.

Causes we Support

We do like to keep our charitable donations local, even hyper-local. We are particularly keen to support organizations that are dedicated to preserving history, supporting veterans and the armed forces, or are doing excellent work uplifting communities in which we have a presence. We also are supportive of organizations and people that have clearly supported us in the past (great customers).

Submit a Donation Request

If you feel like you fit the above, please submit an application using the form below, at least six weeks in advance of your event (and earlier is better). We review applications/requests monthly and will let you know if we can support your cause. While we do have a generous donation budget, every year the requests outstrip the budget. If we are thin on our budget at the time of your request, sometimes we will see if an organization is able and willing to purchase at a discount instead.
