Joyce Grant singer/songwriter, is no stranger to Vallejo. She performs regularly at the Vallejo Ferry Bldg. Taproom, the Coalshed as well as the Benicia Taphouse. A mezzo-soprano with a voice like dark honey, Grant has been singing jazz and R&B in the Bay Area for over 30 years at venues such the Donatello Hotel in San Francisco, the Ledson Hotel in Sonoma, the Empress Theater in Vallejo, Sam’s Chowder House in Half Moon Bay, Nick’s in Pacifica to name a few. She is the great-great-niece of famed ragtime composer Scott Joplin and is a frequent participant in the West Coast Ragtime festival.
For the past 3 years she has been the lead vocalist for the Walnut Creek Jazz Band, an 18- piece big band. As a songwriter she has released the CD In The Morning (co-produced with Doug McKeehan , 2010), a collection of original songs ranging in style from jazz to blues to R&B. She continues to bring her sensitive and powerful vocal interpretations to appreciative audiences that keep coming back for more.
