An “industrial cathedral” so massive that it was said to be “a city of its own”. Shop 31 – the Machine Shop – was the heart of shipbuilding and repair at Mare Island Naval Shipyard. Massive propellers for destroyers were bored here, submarines were overhauled, and thousands of civilian men and women were recruited and trained in the art of machining in the process. Brewed in limited batches, and always changing, each beer in our Workshop Series is inspired by new ideas we've been "workshopping" on our small pilot brew system.
